Garner Academy of Dance

Enrol in a ballet course with professional dancer/teacher - Ben Garner.  Ballet is an exquisite artform to enjoy, study and discover. Courses help tone, increase fitness and develop posture, balance, flexibility and coordination. Ben’s classes are taught in a welcoming, fun and non-competitive environment.

BALLET CLUB is an uplifting weekly ballet class for people aged 55+ (but all are welcome).   It is suitable for beginners and for those with previous experience.  The content of the class is modified to suit people with injuries or mobility conditions.  It is also a great way to connect socially with people with a shared interest as there are opportunities for social activities e.g. our weekly coffee after class in Bill's and theatre visits to watch dance.

GENERAL LEVEL BALLET is suitable for both beginners who are entirely new to classical ballet and students returning after many years away from the art form and wishing to ease back into ballet. You will learn and revise the basic steps and terminology both on and off the barre. Much content of the class is differentiated to accommodate the differing levels of experience of the students. Classes always end with enjoyable, choreographic combinations which are guaranteed to send the students home on a high.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL BALLET is suitable for dancers with a few years of experience.  If you have experienced any of the dance association syllabi (e.g. RAD, ISTD, IDTA, BBO etc.) then the level of this class could be compared to 'Intermediate'.  Exercises at this level will be longer and less repetitive and a greater range of steps will be studied. The classes end with choreographic combinations to develop dance and performance quality.

The classes run almost every week of the year - apart from the latest exceptions:

Tuesdays - 17/12/2024, 24/12/2024 & 31/12/2024

Thursdays - 19/12/2024, 26/12/2024 & 02/01/2025

Highly recommended course! Ben Garner is a superb dancer with high expectations for his students. The atmosphere is friendly and progress is visible every lesson.
